The Faculty of Media & Communication's professional production unit, Red Balloon Productions, have had their research film聽Parallel Lines selected for screening at the in Greece.
Parallel Lines was selected for the 'Women Who Make Films' category of the festival, and is directed by Kerstin Stutterheim and Stephanie Farmer. The film is a full-length, observational research documentary聽featuring several GB Paralympic athletes, and follows their journey as they train for the Tokyo Paralympic Games. The athletes are at the top of their individual sports, winning Paralympic gold, World and European Championships, but rarely get mainstream TV coverage for their chosen disciplines. The film follows their daily lives, strict training regimes and personal struggles to maintain fitness and motivation, and demonstrates how the Paralympic movement has provided an opportunity to fulfil their love of sport and competition.
Parallel Lines聽was produced as part of the , 'Re-presenting para-sport bodies; Disability and the cultural legacy of the Paralympic Games', led by 欧美性爱片's Deputy Dean Research and Professional Practice, Professor Michael Silk.
